Karl Amoussou and Brazilian Rodrigo Cavalheiro will face off in Belfast next month at Brave 13.
Ahead of their scheduled bout, France’s Amoussou has dismissed Cavalheiro’s ambitions of taking the Brave Welterweight title. Current title-holder Carlston Harris (12-3) might have a thing or two to say about that mind.
The champion has recently stated he’s ready to defend his belt, but sees Jarrah Al-Selawe as next in line for the shot.
Cavalheiro had commented that he has his sights set on Harris’ gold.
“This belt was already supposed to be with me”, says the Brazilian.
“I want to be Brave champion and I can be Brave champion. I am a complete mixed martial artist and I know what I am capable of in this division. My target is Harris because he is the one with the belt”.
“He’s got bigger problems he should be focusing on right now”, countered Amoussou to press this week.
“Bigger problems coming up, I meant. Cavalheiro has to face me at Brave 13 in Belfast to start dreaming about the championship.”
The pair will square off in Brave’s Welterweight division for the promotions first visit to Europe. It’s also a first outing for Amoussou under the Brave Combat Federation banner. With 17 of his 24 career wins coming inside the first round, there should be fireworks in Belfast’s SSE Arena when the cage door closes.
Also on the night, Kilkenny’s own ‘Magic’ Myles Price renews a near decade-long rivalry with Antrim’s ‘Stormin’ Norman Parke (co-main, 73kg), while Stephen Loman and SBG’s Frans Mlambo face off in the main event.
Tickets are available via ticketmaster.ie or locally through Rollercoaster and Hickson’s Centra.
