Undefeated Dutch middle weight Joey Berkenbosch makes his Brave Combat Federation debut this Saturday night.
At 35, the Bert Kops prospect might be considered a latecomer to the game, having gone pro around this time last year.
However, anything is possible in this game. When he takes to the cage in Tangier, Morocco, this Saturday night he will have Dutch master Bert Kops in his corner.
Kops impact in wrestling arenas has been felt around the world. Considered one of the greatest wrestlers ever to come out of the Netherlands, he’s previously trained big names and MMA pioneers like Anton Geesink, Jan van de Paverd, Wim Ruska, Chris Dolman and John Bluming.
One household name training alongside Kops today is Bellator middleweight champ, Gegard Mousasi.
Berkenbosch (3-0) replaces the previously announced Diego Gonzalez for Saturday night’s fight action and will be out first on the main card.
He’ll take on undefeated Russian middleweight Ikram Aliskerov (5-0). It’s the Russian’s fourth outing for Brave, already with wins over Rufas Asadov, Jeremy Smith and most recently, South African hopeful Chad Hanekom at Brave 10 in March this year.
“The bout has the potential to redefine the landscape of the middleweight division of Brave Combat Federation,” says one Brave source.
“Brave 14 marks the first time Bert Kops is featuring his prospect in Brave Combat Federation. Also for fight fans this gives an opportunity to see the Kops Gym take on Champions Fight Team from Dagestan, Russia. This marks the ultimate showdown between wrestling supremacy against the Sambo specialists.”
Watch the action online at livestream.com, flocombat.com and other outlets from 7pm on Saturday night.
