BAMMA add World Middleweight Title fight to London card this September

Yannick ‘Black Mamba’ Bahati is set for his first World Middleweight Title defence at BAMMA 31.

Bahati v Shipman, BAMMA 31

The card for BAMMA 31 is starting to warm up nicely.

In a ferocious Middleweight match up, current champion Yannick ‘Black Mamba’ Bahati (8-1) makes his first title defence against London Shootfighters’ Mike ‘Seabass’ Shipman (10-1).

Bahati secured the title with a second round submission victory over Matt Hallam at BAMMA 29: McDermott v Wolf in May of this year.

The challenger is undefeated since his debut, with his last two wins coming on the London Bellator events. However, the ever-confident Champion Bahati will be undeterred by the Challengers credentials as he continues on his own path to cementing his name as the best Middleweight in the division.

“I come to entertain the fans and put another bum away early at Wembley London and segmenting my name in the history book of UK MMA”, said Bahati ahead of the announcement of the fight.

Meanwhile, Shipman reckons he’s a “very bad match” for Bahati and has his eyes firmly on taking the middleweight strap.

“I’m excited to become BAMMA champion”, says Shipman.

“It’s a well respected title and will attract the type of challengers I need to progress me as a fighter. I’m also excited to fight Yannick, he has a good record and some attributes but I am a very bad match for him.”

BAMMA 31 throws down at the SSE Arena, London on Friday 15 September. Tickets available via
